PARISH

Sacraments
Sacraments are an important part of our parish life at St. Michael’s. They give worship to God but are also an important teaching function. The sacramental rites are our primary importance as we gather in worship together.

Baptism

Baptism is usually the first sacrament for our new parish members. This sacramental celebration is shared with our parish family at various Masses so all members can share and welcome our youngest members.

If you are interested in having your child baptized, please contact Rev. Dennis Doyle to discuss baptismal preparation at 647-5611 or email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The Eucharist

The Eucharist is at the center of everything we do at St. Michael’s. It is celebrated daily.

St. Michael’s invites our 2nd grade parish members to celebrate the sacrament of the Eucharist at a special service each spring. Preparation for this sacrament is completed through the Parish Day School as well as through the PSR program.
If you would like additional information about receiving this sacrament, please contact Ken Weis at 314-647-2180 or email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Reconciliation

Penance is offered weekly from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday for all parish members and visitors.

St. Michael’s invites our 2nd grade parish members to celebrate the sacrament of the Reconciliation at a special service each winter. Preparation for this sacrament is completed through the Parish Day School as well as through the PSR program.

Marriage

The Church has a rich tradition in its teaching on sacramental marriage and covenantal union.
The Old Testament authors write of God making a covenant with the chosen people and promising them that they will never be forsaken. The New Testament authors write of Jesus as the new covenant and compare the relationship of Jesus with the Church to the relationship of a husband and wife.
The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership for the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring.
A couple planning to get married in the Catholic Church should contact Rev. Dennis Doyle at least six months prior to the anticipated wedding date.

Anointing of the Sick

Through the sacrament of anointing, Christ strengthens the faithful who are afflicted by illness, providing them with the strongest means of support. Jesus showed great concern for the bodily and spiritual welfare of the sick and commanded his followers to do the same.
The celebration of this sacrament is an opportunity for the deepening of the faith of the community who are able to witness the faith and devotion of those being anointed.

Holy Orders

Holy Orders is the sacrament by which bishops, priests and deacons are ordained and receive the power and grace to perform their sacred duties. The sacred rite by which orders are conferred is called ordination. The apostles were ordained by Jesus at the Last Supper so that others could share in his priesthood.
Anyone interested in a vocation in the priesthood or religious life is encouraged to contact Rev. Dennis Doyle at 314-647-5611.
