Parishioners of St. Michael the Archangel are actively involved in many forms of ministry. If you are interested in participating in any of these ministries and would like more information, please contact the individuals noted below or call the rectory for further assistance.
Altar Servers offer service to God and the community by assisting the priest during Mass. The ministry is open to all adults and youth of the parish who have made their First Communion and whose parents believe they are ready and responsible enough to be trained. Training in the specifics of the ministry is provided throughout the year.
Servers are assigned on a rotating schedule.Download the Server Schedule
Liturgy of the Word for Children is a special liturgy is available at the 10 a.m. Mass most Sundays for children in Kindergarten through 4th grade. It is divided into two groups: Young (K through 2nd grade) and Older (3rd and 4th grade). Each week a theme that correlates with the Sunday readings and Gospel is presented to the children.
The purpose of this special liturgy is to provide children with a better understanding of the Word of God by using age appropriate materials. The adult catechists teach from the series Seasons of Faith. They incorporate prayer, song, group discussion with worksheets, and other activities so that the children can relate to the Word of God in daily life.
The children depart church prior to the first reading, gather in the school building for their lesson, and return during the offertory procession. An adult always accompanies the children to and from the church. Two children from each group are selected on a rotating basis to carry up the offertory gifts.
If you are interested in volunteering please contact any member on the list.

The money counters traditionally meet every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The primary responsibility of the money counters is to count the donations collected during weekend Masses. If you can help, please call Rich Scahill at 314 781-5721
The gift of music only adds to the beauty of the Mass and the level of our participation. St. Michael’s enjoys gifted soloists, talented musicians and an active adult choir. Parishioners cantor at all Masses and lead the assembly in song throughout the liturgy.
Music Director Myco T. Wulkopf oversees the planning of the music within the liturgy. She trains and prepares individual cantors, as well as the adult choir.
Individual cantors can meet with Myco before Mass as needed. The adult choir meets at 10:20 a.m. to prepare for the 11 a.m. Sunday Mass. It practices at 7p.m. on Thursdays in the music room at St. Michael’s School with the exception of the first Thursday of the month.
There is also a Youth Choir that is beginning to take off; please contact Mrs. Wulkopf if you have any interest in participating in any of these choirs. In fact, if you play any music instruments, she would be happy to incorporate you into our worship!
Myco also assists couples in planning the music for pending nuptials.
Please contact Myco at 314-647-5611 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any interest in any of the above ministries or for any concerns regarding music at St. Michael’s.Contact the Music Director
Sacristans work behind the scenes. They prepare the worship spaces for the celebration of the sacraments each week by polishing, light cleaning, and watering plants. This group meets every Friday morning to clean the church. The group gathers around 8 a.m., depending on the Mass schedule, and normally finishes around 9 a.m.
If you can help once a week, once a month, or once in a while, please call Kathy Winfrey at 314-961-7942.
